PDS™ Antibacterial Violet Monofilament (Polydioxanone) Absorbable Surgical Suture, 3-0, 27", SH is a synthetic, monofilament suture designed for extended wound support. It is composed of polydioxanone, a polyester polymer, and incorporates antibacterial properties through the inclusion of triclosan (Irgacare® MP), helping to reduce the risk of bacterial colonization at the surgical site.

The violet coloring enhances visibility during placement. The monofilament design provides smooth tissue passage and minimizes drag, making it ideal for procedures involving delicate tissues. The material elicits minimal inflammatory response and has been engineered for high pliability and ease of handling without compromising strength.

Typical indications include abdominal wall closures, soft tissue approximation in pediatric cardiovascular procedures, and general soft tissue surgery where an absorbable, monofilament suture is preferred. Complete absorption occurs within 183 to 238 days, reducing the need for suture removal and decreasing long-term foreign body presence.
